Sandra Gale "Sandy" Burkett, age 69, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at her home in Rich Valley, VA.

Sandy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved life and all it had to offer. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and spending time with her family and friends. She also cherished her little dogs, Izzy and Rudy. She will be deeply missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Lena Kimberlin; sisters, Maxine Cruey and Juanita Howell; brothers, Dennis and Donald Kimberlin; niece, Geri Galliher; and nephew, Johnny Griffey.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Joe Burkett; sons, Brad Burkett and wife, Nancy, and Jason Burkett and husband, Eric; sisters, Sharon Griffey, Peggy Blevins and husband, Jim, and Nancy Tuell; brother, Dean Kimberlin; special niece, Pam Meade and husband, Dean; special friends, Doris Powers and Kathy Carrico; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Keith Eller officiating. Graveside services will follow at Chatham Hill Cemetery, 363 Old Chatham Hill Road, Saltville, VA 24370.

Pallbearers will be Brad Burkett, Jason Burkett, Dean Meade, Danny Long, John Meade, Greg Griffey, Dwayne Kimberlin, Johnny Burkett, and Wayne Burkett.
