Scott Bradley Surber, age 46, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at his home in Saltville, Va. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Garland and Kathleen Surber; maternal grandparents, Tivis and Ruth Smith; uncles, Melvin Chapman, David Smith, and Howard Smith.

Scott is survived by his parents, Charles (Butch) and Mildred Surber of Saltville, VA; daughter, Aspen Surber of Chilhowie, VA; aunts, Joyce (Melvin) Chapman of Saltville, VA, Merilyn (David) Armstrong of Dublin, VA, Wanda (David) Smith of Rogersville, TN, Donna (Howard) Smith of Johnson City, TN; uncles, Don (Judy) Smith of Kingsport, TN, Ed (Girthel) Smith of Gainesville, FL, Earl (Brenda) Smith of Saltville, VA; and special friends, Keith and Lisa Thomas of Abingdon, VA.

Scott's (better known as "Snooch" to his friends) family want to say, "thank you" to all of the people who have been overwhelmingly kind as we process his death. A very special thank you to Michelle Hartzog for being our guiding light as we move out of the darkness. We have asked his numerous friends about that nickname and no one to date has been able (or maybe willing) to explain it to us.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at D.R. Henderson Funeral home in Saltville, Va.
