Susie Mae Buchanan, age 89, passed away on Friday, December 05, 2025, peacefully, at her home.

Susie was a strong and hardworking lady who wanted things to be done right. Those who knew her best knew if you weren't doing it right, she would let you know. She was known by all for her cooking and keeping her home beautiful, inside and out. Her greatest love was her family, she so deeply cherished. Susie will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering generosity, and the warm welcome you always felt in her home. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Her memory will be everlasting and remembered evermore by those who had the honor and privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Buchanan; parents, Wornie and Louise Crewey Gillespie; sisters, Jerlene Stapleton and Eula Poston; and two brothers, Jimmy and Gaynor Gillespie.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Wilson; son, Johny Coe, and wife, Lisa; siblings, Sam "Shorty" Gillespie, Bill Gillespie and wife, Phyllis, Betty Landis, George Gillespie and wife, Freda, Jackie Gillespie, Bobby Gillespie and wife, Phyllis; grandchildren, Travis Snodgrass and wife, Alicia, Derek Snodgrass, Jessica Shelton, Christina Frye and husband, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Layla Snodgrass, Silver Poston and husband, Jeremy, Hailey, Kinsey, and Sidney Snodgrass, Natalie and Levi Shelton; great-great granddaughter, Bexlie Poston; special friends, Carolyn Barr and Rachel Johnson; and special caregiver, Dawn Blevins.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 09, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Church Cemetery, 428 Riverside Church Rd., Saltville, VA 24370, with Reverend Herman Cress officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Gillespie, Bobby Gillespie, Jackie Gillespie, Kenneth Davidson, Sambo Gillespie, and Junior Norris.
