Teresa Leigh Hockett
Bristol, TN
May 31, 1959 – February 9, 2024
How very blessed we all are to have been loved by her!
Late Friday, February 9, 2024, she graduated to heaven. We cannot begin to imagine the welcome home celebration she received at the gates of heaven; family, friends, her horse, Jabin as well as all her sweet patients she cared so very much for over the years.
She was absolutely the best daughter, sister, "Aunt Teri" (to so, so many), cousin, nurse, and friend. She was always so much fun, from dancing in the rain, Derby Day Tea parties, floating and sunning at their boathouse on South Holston Lake with friends and family, dancing in the Nutcracker Ballet as a party mom with her niece Madi. She grew the most beautiful flowers…digging in the dirt was one of her favorite things to do.
Anyone who knew her knows that she didn't gain her angel wings in heaven, she was born with them. She was a beautiful princess through and through.
She gracefully and fearlessly battled cancer for over 8 years, and we are so thankful God gave us that extra time.
Our family is blessed to have the love of her Oncology Family, especially Dr. Jamal Maatouk, Shirley Davis, NP, Myra Blankenship, NP, the entire staff at Ballad Health Cancer Care in Kingsport, TN, Dr. Scott Coen and his entire staff, Dr. Ken Smith and his entire staff.
Waiting to join her in heaven are her dear Mother, Marjorie "Judy" Hockett; sister, Jennifer Hockett; niece, Madison George; great nephew, Braydon Parker George; her sweetheart of over 40 years, Lynn Greer; Aunt, Patsy Hegeman (Art Hegeman); several cousins; numerous honorary nieces and nephews that she was "Aunt Teri" in their lives; families throughout her over 40 years of nursing, her loving lake family and special friends whom were all family to her.
Her wishes were: no funeral services. She doesn't want anyone to be sad, she wants us to do something fun. Early Spring or Summer, we will honor her wishes and host her celebration of life at her home.
Always remember her saying: "I am so glad you are here"; "Be kind, because nice matters" and "I love you". (BTLI)
