Teresa Johnson Seymore, age 64, is at peace after years of battling a chronic illness, passing away on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Teresa was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and neighbor, but above all, she was “Nanny” to her grandbabies, who held the biggest place in her heart. There was nothing she treasured more than her family, and those closest to her knew that Teresa loved with her whole heart.

For many years, Teresa fought a chronic illness with incredible strength and determination. If you asked her family how she managed to stay so strong willed through it all, they might jokingly tell you that her purpose was to keep her husband, Bobby, straight and probably sleep with one eye open. Bobby and Teresa reconnected after spending many years apart, and when they found their way back to one another, everyone could see just how happy she was. There was a glisten about her that hadn’t been there before. Through every season that followed, Bobby faithfully stood by her side, caring for her and loving her through it all.

Teresa was a true firecracker stubborn, hardheaded, and never one to leave you wondering what she was thinking. If she had something on her mind, you could count on her to tell you exactly what it was. She loved big, and sometimes that meant a little tough love, but her family knew how to dish it right back. That was simply Teresa, and it was one of the many things that made her so dearly loved.

Before her illness made doing the things she enjoyed more difficult, Teresa loved crocheting, tending to her flower beds, spending time outdoors, and caring for animals. Though her family will miss her more than words can express, there is comfort in knowing that the years of pain and sickness are finally behind her. They will remember the firecracker she was, the love she gave, and the laughter she brought and continues to bring through the many memories she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Johnson and Esther White; and brother, Paul Johnson, Jr.

Teresa is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bobby Seymore of Damascus, Virginia; daughter, Andrea Phipps and partner, Jennifer Willis of Glade Spring, VA; brother, Harry Rouse of Glade Spring, VA; her special grandbabies, Jordan Mackenzee Phipps, Bailey Danielle Phipps, Avery Madison Phipps, and Jaxon Walker Phipps; several nieces and nephews; lifelong and very special friend, Mary Watson; and a host of other loving family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Widener Valley Road, Glade Spring, VA 24340.

Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
