Thelma Eunice Smith Surber, age 90, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, Va.  Eunice was born October 25, 1934, at the home of her great grandmother in Meadowview, Va.  She resided in Glade Spring, Va. for many years with her late husband of 48 years, Allen Smith.  Thelma was a Godly woman and was a member of Plasterco Church of God.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family that she loved dearly.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Smith and her second husband, Berkley Surber; her parents, Montie Cubine Stallard and Trulia Johnson Stallard; a daughter, Connie Allen Smith; brother Ralph Stallard and wife Mary; sister, Polly Thomas and husband Stewart.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Steve Smith of Montana; brothers, Carl Stallard and wife Sandy of Sidney, OH, R. L. Stallard and wife Melba of Trenton, GA, Glen Stallard and wife Pat of Christiansburg, VA; and Tony Stallard and wife Debbie of Sidney, OH; sisters, Marie Rice of Christiansburg, VA, Betty Price and husband Jimmy of Yadkinsville, NC, and Linda Gregory and husband Sonny of Abingdon, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Thelma Eunice Smith Surber will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, VA with Melba Stallard officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA.
