Thomas Vernon Hayton, age 69, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Valley Rehab and Nursing Home in Chilhowie, Va. Vernon was born on November 9, 1954, to the late Avery "Pete" and Annie Hayton in Saltville, Va. He was a graduate from Rich Valley High School. Vernon was a pastor of a church in Danville, Va. for several years. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry "Cotton" Hayton, and Jacky "Cool Puff" Hayton; his father-in-law, Mack Horton; brother-in-law, Ralph Charles Moore, Jr.; and a step great nephew, Christopher Stiltner.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ann Christine Hayton of Richlands, Va.; his son, Samuel Hayton of Richlands, Va.; brother, Darrell Hayton; sisters, Kathy Moore, and Becky Hayton all of Saltville, Va.; granddaughter, Alivia Grace Harris;

mother-in-law, Shirley Horton of Richlands, Va.; sisters-in-law, Jan Hayton of Saltville, Va.; Robin Horton of Richlands, Va.; two nieces Michelle Boardwine of Alabama, and Samantha Hayton of Saltville, Va.; step niece, Jeanie Woodward; step nephews, Richard "Porky" Stiltner of Saltville; James "Pumkin" Billings of Chilhowie, Va.; great nephew, Auston, Skylar, and Gunner; great niece, Emma; step great nephew, Brady Christian; step great nieces, Ashley, Denisha, Brandi, and Lindsay.

A graveside service for Vernon will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Wade Kestner and Pastor Roger Boyd officiating. Bobby Dowell, Samuel Hayton, Allen Hunt, Jesse Parsons, Caleb Kestner, Skylar Boardwine, and Austin Boardwine will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
