Obituary

Saltville, VA

Thomas G. Maloyed, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Thomas was born on June 25, 1947, in Rich Valley, Virginia, to the late Robert and Lucille Maloyed. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was built around faith, family, hard work, and plenty of laughter.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Thomas carried with him a strong work ethic throughout his life. He was truly a jack of all trades, and there seemed to be very little he couldn’t build, repair, or figure out. He spent many years as a contractor and was the proud owner and operator of M & D Contractors, Inc. His ability to work with his hands was matched by his willingness to use those talents to help others.

Thomas also knew that life was meant to be enjoyed. He loved to have fun, laugh, cut up, and, perhaps most of all, make everyone around him laugh. His sense of humor and joyful spirit had a way of making people feel at ease, and there was seldom a dull moment when Thomas was around.

Above everything else, Thomas was a man of deep and unwavering faith. He loved Jesus and was never ashamed to let others know where his heart belonged. Thomas was one of the founders of Christian Faith Ministries, a church that became an important part of his life and his legacy. He dearly loved his church family and enjoyed gathering with them to worship. Whether he was singing, praising, or simply surrounded by fellow believers, Thomas was happiest when worshipping the Lord he loved so much.

His faith was more than something he spoke about on Sundays; it was woven throughout the way he lived his life and loved his family. Thomas leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. While his family and friends will deeply miss his presence, his laughter, and his voice in worship, they find comfort in knowing that the faith Thomas carried throughout his life has now become sight.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Fisher; and his brother, “Beardy” Maloyed.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 35 years of marriage, Daisey Maloyed; his three daughters, Jenny Hess and husband David, Kim Maloyed, and Crissy Martin; grandchildren, TJ Feeny (Brooke), Cory (Kristen), Jessica (John Wayne), Elijah (Kierston), Alyssa (Logan), Alexandria (Michael); great-grandchildren, Lexi, Lanie, and Jett; nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Christian Faith Ministries at 2 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be following the service at Walkers Creek Fellowship Church Cemetery with Military rites rendered by the United States Airforce Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post #4667.
