Thurman Dale "Bud" Holmes, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior and reunited with his loving wife of 63 years, Grace Holmes on Sunday, April 26, 2026.  Bud was born July 13, 1942 in Saltville, VA to the late Robert and Lessie Holmes.    He was a member and deacon of Adoration Church of God in Bristol, VA.  Bud had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make you smile.  He loved animals rescuing two baby possums and raising them and feeding the neighborhood skunks cornbread made by his wonderful wife, Grace.  He loved old cars and watching the Barrett Jackson car shows with his son David.  He could name the make and model of the cars.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Grace; sisters, Ann Garza, Gladys Handley, and Clara Felty; brothers, Harless and Mark Holmes; and son-in-law, Rex Bush.

Those left to treasure his memory is sons, David Holmes and wife Debbie who also served as his caretakers, and Kenny Holmes and wife Mary; daughter, Rose Bush; brothers, Mike and Matt Holmes; grandchildren, David Homes, Jr., Tony Bush, Dillon Holmes and wife Savannah; and great grandchildren, Kade, Finn, and Magnolia Grace "Maggie" Holmes.

Funeral services for Bud Holmes will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Todd Asbury and Chaplain John Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, Va.  Those serving as pallbearers will be David Holmes, David Holmes, Jr., Kenny Holmes, Dillon Holmes, Kurt Felty, and Aaron Felty.

The Holmes family would like to express their gratitude to the following that was involved in taking care of their dad:  Tammy, Jen, Jill, Karlie, Nickie, Dylan, Dr. Bruce Higinbothom, NP Sharon Gilbert and anyone else, we thank God for all of you.
