Saltville, VA Tommie Mae Bruce, age 84, also known as "Gran", passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Tommie was a member of the Church of Christ in Abingdon, VA. She was the former owner of TJ's Restaurant in Saltville. She was a hard worker who enjoyed serving others. She would always go out of her way to take care of her customers which she also considered her friends. Tommie enjoyed ceramics, flowers, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Hazel Bruce. She is survived by her daughter, Starr Call and husband Gary; one sister, Becky Comer and husband Jake; brother, Buddy Bruce and wife Twyla; four grandchildren, Michael Hatfield and wife Heather, Timothy Hatfield, Chris Call, and Ashley Call and Fiancé Nino Wardrip; three great-grandchildren, Amira, Isla, and Ava; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home with Preacher Bill Haywood officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service.
