Abingdon, Va.

Velma Kate Holmes Eastridge, age 93, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Ballad Health Hospice in Bristol, TN. Velma was born on October 18, 1929 to the late Tom and Ethel Tolbert Holmes in Saltville, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Eastridge; her son, Randall Eugene Eastridge, Sr.; eight brothers and two sisters.

Velma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and everyone enjoyed gathering at her house for a great meal and fellowship. She will always be remembered for her beautiful and warm smile.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Eastridge of Abingdon, Va.; brother, Henry Holmes; sisters, Geneva Henegar (Bob), and Jeanette DeShazo; grandchildren, Terri Layne (Jimmy), Randall Eugene Eastridge, Jr., and Marsha Gibbs (Randall); great grandchildren, Chasity Eastridge (Jessie), Cameron Gibbs (Dakota) and Peyton Gibbs; great-great grandchildren, Connor Authur and Cash Gibbs; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Annette Dougherty.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, Va. with Pastor Dale Hunter officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.
