Wade Earnest "Pete" Salyer, Jr., age 68, passed away peacefully at home after a strong and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Ida Salyer of Lebanon, Va.; mother and father-in-law, Clyde and Maggie Frye of Saltville, Va.; brothers-in-law, Clifton Wyatt and Gary Frye both of Saltville, Va.; special nephew, Logan Frye; and niece, Angela Frye Surber.

He was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections with 23 years of service and was a bus driver for the Bible program at Rich Valley Elementary School. Wade attended the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church and Chilhowie Baptist Church. He recently began attending Freedom Baptist Church.

Wade is survived by his wife of thirty years, Donna Salyer; daughters, Stephanie Taylor and husband Kevin of Saltville, Va., Nikki Robbins and husband Austin of Saltville, Va.; sons, Zac Salyer and wife Rebekah, and Chris Salyer both of Saltville, Va.; grandchildren, Jacob and Bryson Taylor, Maggie and Knox Robbins, Amelia "Millie" Salyer, and Caroline Kingery all of Saltville, Va.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Wyatt, Connie Woodward and Boyd, and Susie Woods; brother-in-law, Truman Frye and Rhonda; and his special pet, Winston.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville, Va. with Pastor Barry Loupe and special friend, Bryd Frye officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will follow at the Mount Rose Mausoleum in Glade Spring, Va. Pallbearers will be Tyler Woodward, Ollie Woodward, Justin Woodward, Coty Frye, Dalton Frye, Jake Bise, and Landon Frye. Honorary Pallbearer will be Boyd Woodward.
