William "Tony" Anthony Burkett

William "Tony" Anthony Burkett, age 59, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Tony was born and raised in Smyth County and was a proud graduate of Rich Valley High School, Class of 1985. He was employed at Titan Wheel for many years. He was known for being genuine and true to himself, never meeting a stranger and always quick to lend a helping hand. He loved music, and you could usually hear him coming before you saw him. A loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he also enjoyed NASCAR and wrestling. His laugh, friendship, and his one-of-a-kind spirit will always be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Burkett; his brother, Danny Burkett; an infant sister; and sister-in-law, Sandy Burkett.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years of marriage, Misty Burkett; his two sons, Dylan Burkett, and Anthony Reynolds; four brothers, Joe, Johnny (Becky), Wayne, and Chris; sisters, Shirley Callahan, Nancy Smith (Stanley), Dixie Hunt, and Carol Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Open Arms fellowship with Pastor Doug Haga and Pastor Tracy Puckett officiating. The burial will follow at Ridgedale Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Henderson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Burkett, Wayne Burkett, Barry Frye, Mark Taylor, Anthony Reynolds, Sr., Billy Carter, Jamie Seymour, Lenny Robbins, Tim Spencer and Gary Taylor. Honorary will be Joe Burkett, Johnny Burkett, Brad Burkett and his "little buddy," Greyson Snead.
