William "Bill" Pauley, Jr. age 71, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Saltville Virginia on June 30th to the late William A. Pauley, Sr. and Evelyn Buchanan Pauley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bill had a long career in construction. He brought the same strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence to his construction projects as he did to every other aspect of his life. Bill embraced the role of a parent with an open heart. He understood the importance of passing on valuable life lessons and spent countless hours imparting wisdom to his loved ones. Beyond his family he found purpose in helping others and was an active volunteer at the local food pantry, extending a helping hand to those in need. His commitment to his faith was also evident as he tirelessly drove the church bus, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to attend services. He found joy in the simplest of things and believed in doing things the right way, a value that he carried throughout his life. Bill had a strong passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and always kept a garden.

Including his parents, he is also preceded in death by three siblings, Helen Collins and husband Ronnie, George "Chuck" Pauley, and Frankie Pauley; also, his brother-in-law, Dubbie Minton.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 39 years of marriage, Beverly Dangerfield Pauley; two sons, Jason Clendenin and wife Kelly, and Daniel Clendenin; two daughters, Pamela Pauley Reedy and husband Ben, and Tabby Pauley Viers; four sisters, Mary O'Quinn and husband Tommy, Nancy Prater and husband James, Sandy Minton, and Linda Bennett and husband Chuck; five grandchildren, Lauren, Claire, Samuel, Rafe, and Axton; also, several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Mount Rose Cemetery with Pastor Robert Prater officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Henderson Funeral Home from 12 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the procession to the cemetery.
