Saltville, VA William "Billy" Raymond Carter, age 89, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Valley Healthcare. He was a member of the Saltville Church of the Nazarene for many years. He was a former employee of Olin Mathieson. Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ellis Carter; his parents, Raymond Carter and Suzie Sessor; stepmother, Bessie Carter; three sisters, Betty Sessor, Shelby Davidson, and Evelyn Horman; five brothers, Charles Carter, Carl Carter, Jimmy Carter, Butch Carter, and Tommy Carter. He is survived by two daughters, Patty Harris and husband Richard, Darlene Gaffey and husband Ron; four sons, Kenny Carter and wife Andi, John Carter, Trevor Carter and wife Nicki, and Gordon Carter; four sisters, Linda McGhee, Mary McGhee, Joan Belcher, and Carolyn South; three brothers, Robert Carter, Mike Sessor, and J.B. Sessor; granddaughters, Ashley Collins and Bella Carter; six grandsons, Josh Carter, Blue Carter, K.C. Carter, Michael Carter, Luke Gaffey, and Shane Harris; nine great-grandchildren, Dylan Carter, Dalton Carter, Colt Carter, Taylor Collins, Sam Collins, Lena Collins, Emma Harris, Olivia Harris, and Will Harris; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Elizabeth Cemetery with Pastor Joe Wilson officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
