Zola D. Evans

Saltville, VA

Zola D. Evans, age 95, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, March 7, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born on February 27, 1929, in Saltville, VA to the late Millard Davidson and Cora Gillespie Davidson. She was a member of the McCready Church. She was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post #7328. Zola was employed as an extension agent in District 3, she taught quilting at Bluefield College, and was also a substitute teacher in the Smyth County School system. Her many hobbies included the Busy Bee Quilters, basket weaving, painting, embroidery, knitting, sewing, crochet, needle pointing, and taking care of her chickens and peacocks, and she loved to help her neighbors and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Evans; her daughter, Mary Ann Harris; grandson, Ethan Coe; brothers, Eugene Davidson, Wayne Davidson; and sister, June Davidson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Wilma Arnold and husband Mick of Bristol, VA, Naomi Coe and husband Bill of Chilhowie, VA, Debbie Spence and husband David of Saltville, VA; her sons, Kenneth Evans and wife Brenda of Saltville, VA, Eddie Evans and wife Cecile of Piney Flats, TN, Mike Evans and wife Terri of Hickory, NC, and Tim Evans and wife Liz of Bristol, VA; son-in-law, Donnie Harris; sisters, India Eads, Shirley Seckenger, and Judy Williams; brother, Dewey "Butch" Davidson; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and many many special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home with her grandsons Jesse Evans, and Michael Evans officiating. The burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
